















Corn dogs
Last year I felt a yearning for corn dogs. It’s quite amazing - more than 20 years passed since I have tasted them as a child in the US, and suddenly I got a pressing need to make some. Now from time to time I make them according to more or less this recipe (from memory, found it in internet, but was’t re-trace the exact one):
2/3 cup cornmeal
1/3 cup flour
1 tsp sugar
1/2 tsp salt
1 tsp baking powder
1/2 cup milk
1 egg
6-8 Debrecziners (originally were Wieners or Frankfurters)
6-8 sticks
a lot of oil for deep-frying
Mix dry ingredients, add milk, beaten egg, oil, mix. Put Debrecziners on sticks, dip in batter and deep-fry. Were I to use Wieners instead of Debrecziners, I would make the batter spicy.
Being an addict, maybe I should consider moving to where corn dogs come from ;-)
