Last year I felt a yearning for corn dogs. It’s quite amazing - more than 20 years passed since I have tasted them as a child in the US, and suddenly I got a pressing need to make some. Now from time to time I make them according to more or less this recipe (from memory, found it in internet, but was’t re-trace the exact one):

2/3 cup cornmeal
1/3 cup flour
1 tsp sugar
1/2 tsp salt
1 tsp baking powder
1/2 cup milk
1 egg

6-8 Debrecziners (originally were Wieners or Frankfurters)
6-8 sticks

a lot of oil for deep-frying

Mix dry ingredients, add milk, beaten egg, oil, mix. Put Debrecziners on sticks, dip in batter and deep-fry. Were I to use Wieners instead of Debrecziners, I would make the batter spicy.

Being an addict, maybe I should consider moving to where corn dogs come from ;-)

This weekend, as my wife went shopping, I took my daughter for some pointless errands around the old town. Anyway, on our way through the old town, we wandered to the place where the famous foundling, Kaspar Hauser was spotted.

Up till now I had not even the faintest clue that he was found in Nuremberg. And lo and behold, we find ourselves at the corner where he was first seen! Mysterious…
